We were very fortunate last night during the storm. The course has a fair amount of debris down, but no trees were damaged. We did however lose a tree at the tennis court maintenance area. The fallen tree was cut up and hauled away this morning.

Prepping for a storm
When there is a chance for severe weather like there may be today we take certain steps in preparing for a storm. We will go throughout the course and turn off all the transformers. By doing this we will prevent any damage to the irrigation system. Little things like this will prevent major damage.

Spraying Greens
Since we are closed on Monday's we like to take advantage of no golfers, so today we sprayed the greens. I was asked by one of our employees today why we sprayed the greens so much. I explained to him that we are not always spraying the same chemical. We spray anything from fertilizers to insecticides to fungicides on the greens. Today we sprayed a very low rate of fertilizer. This is known as spoon feeding the greens. By spoon feeding the greens you can accomplish numerous things, but most importantly you do not slow down the greens by over fertilizing. By giving the greens very low rates of fertilizer they do not have a surge in growth, thus the green speeds are not affected.

First Blog so lets see how it goes
My goal in starting this blog for the golf course, is to give the members and whomever else is interested daily to weekly golf course updates. I will be posting golf course news via short to long articles, posting pictures and videos of various golf course related actives and any other information that I believe would benefit you. This is my first time doing a Blog, so please bear with me while I learn my way around blogging.
